04. Analyzing the habits of the use of single - use plastic bags in the household in Hanoi city

Abstract

This research was conducted to evaluate people’s habit of using plastic bags in Hanoi city and propose some solutions to help limit the use of plastic bags in the daily lives of households. The results show that: The city residents widely used plastic bags in their daily activities to store food and waste. The emission of plastic bags is the highest in Ha Dong and Thanh Xuan districts. Business households are responsible for most single - use plastic bags and families with a small number of people have more plastic bags than households with a large number of people. The research also assesses people's comprehension and habits about using plastic bags, therefore analyzing strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and challenges in reducing plastic bags in Hanoi. Research has shown two groups of solutions to reduce plastic bag emissions to focus on, including policy and communication solutions.
