11. Study on the application of geospatial technology to build 3D geographic data for smart cities

Building smart cities for socio-economic development is one of priority policies promoted by the Vietnamese Government. A 3D geospatial data system is the foundation factor for designs, construction and building emergency response proposals in a smart city. This paper proposes the process of building 3D geospatial data using geospatial technology, including ground-based LiDAR, Close-Range Photogrammetry and UAV Photogrammetry technologies. The presented experimental part includes the collection, process and construction of 3D geospatial data at LoD2 and LoD3 according to CityGML format for an area of 1 km2 in Ha Long city, Quang Ninh province. Accuracy assessment results meet the requirements for 3D geospatial data corresponding to LoD2 and LoD3. Findings of this study showed the potential of geospatial technology application in building 3D geospatial data for the development of smart cities in our country in the near future.
