06. Initial results in creating marine spatial planning maps for Phu Quoc - Con Dao area
Abstract
This paper presents some principles in establishing marine spatial planning (MSP) maps based on ecological, environmental, economic and social goals. Unlike other socio-economic development planning maps, the MSP map is the arrangement of human actions by space and time to achieve ecological, environmental, economic and social goals. MSP generally uses maps to create a more comprehensive picture of a marine area and identify where and how an ocean area is being used and what natural resources and habitat exist. Ultimately, 3 MSP maps were created: (1) MSP map of Phu Quoc - Con Dao area at the scale of 1/200000; (2) MSP map of Con Dao area at the scale of 1/25000 and (3) MSP map of Phu Quoc at the scale of 1/50000.
